Independent watchmaker, Peter Speake develops a deeply personal approach to creation. His work is distinguished by a strong and immediately recognizable graphic language, placing the watch within an emotional dimension. With SYNERGY, born from a co-signature with Schwarz Etienne, he crafts pieces with a strong identity, where English artistic vision and Swiss watchmaking expertise meet with precision, challenging conventions and redefining the art of watchmaking.
The watchmaking expertise of the Manufacture, combined with Peter Speake’s vision, unfolds through a multi-level dial construction conceived to enhance depth and create a subtle floating effect through shaped sapphire crystal.
The Prussian blue lancine hands, the house’s signature, indicate the hours and minutes with perfectly balanced proportions.
At the centre of the dial, a further pane of transparent sapphire crystal plays host to the manufacture’s name, rendered in three-dimensional Prussian blue text. Executed with extreme precision, the machining allows millimetre‑perfect drillings, ensuring the polished and blued logo is mounted flawlessly.
The upper-right quadrant features a power reserve indicator, composed of an ice-white semi-circular section with azurage decoration, bordered by a Prussian blue and ice-white track. Close examination of this track reveals a discreet signature, almost hidden in plain sight. From there, the blue serpentine hand begins its journey, indicating the energy stored within the twin barrels and echoing a signature element of Peter’s work.
Inspired by historic pocket watch movements, the calibre MSE 311.00 is a hand-wound movement with a distinctive six‑bridge design. As part of the SYNERGY collection, this exclusive piece is distinguished by an intense Prussian blue, dear to Peter Speake. Its ratchet wheels feature high‑definition engravings, filled by hand with blue lacquer: “Unique edition of 88 pieces” and “Synergy by Peter Speake”. This intricate work showcases the full spectrum of Schwarz Etienne’s in-house expertise, including traditional decoration, individually hand-polished drops and precision oven-fired to ensure colour stability.
Every detail of the 1902 SYNERGY by Peter Speake demonstrates an unwavering pursuit of perfection. For instance, the mainplate is finely sandblasted and rhodium-plated, while the ratchets feature a subtle sunburst decoration and chamfered teeth. In addition, the six bridges are enhanced with straight Geneva stripes angled at 45°, featuring polished bevels and concave jewel sinks, heightening the overall sense of refinement.
